“When my kids become wild and unruly, I use a nice, safe playpen. When they're finished, I climb out.” Erma Bombeck
Australia has such amazing facilities, the parks all have fabulous playgrounds for kids of all ages. There are even adult work out machines spaced along the esplanade.Although I'm not sure quite what muscle group Greg was working on when he got on the seesaw with Jazz.
"Families are like fudge - mostly sweet with a few nuts."Author Unknown
Every day we wandered along the wooden boardwalk looking out at infamous breaks from Duranbah, Snapper Rocks, Greenmount and Kirra. The wild turkeys and ibis explored amongst the palms with us. While photographing the swell from our incredible vantage in the sky, I enjoyed listening to the boys talk story. Dickie is such a wealth of knowledge on all things surfing and his humble appreciation of the ocean is such great positivity to be around. He has begun his one man quest to show my dumb blonde brain all the great surfing movies.

The sun does set early here though, it is winter and the colder evenings are the perfect accompaniment for Roast night down at the Snapper Rocks Surf Life Saving Club. A great price at $10 for a plate of meat and veggies with a schooner of Toohey's beer thrown in. But the best value is getting to rub shoulders with the local families and seeing Greg's big smile.

It didn't take Greg long to find a Ford Explorer four wheel drive, pay over the cash and fill out the registration paperwork with Dickie's help. Of course at the top off the shopping list had been SUP boards and Greg had managed to purchase a couple of second hand "beauts" with paddles. Mine of course was pink because I'm a Sheila.

Leaving Rainbow Bay behind we conveyed down to Byron where we planned to hang out for a couple of days before heading back up north. We managed to load up boards, bags, kids and even Bruce and Sheila into the Ford Exploder and with Dickie leading the expedition we drove south.“Oh, it’s you that owns that ghastly car"

Luckily Greg had passed on this little rippa due to the fact it didn't have any roof racks for the boards. Besides which I was pretty sure we'd run out of vacation if warp speed was only 'poking along'.

Naturally we had to stop for a quick bite on route at the Humble Pie shop. There is nothing more Australian than meat pies and sausage rolls.

"I don't want to spend my life not having good food going into my pie hole.
That hole was made for pies."

“When you die, if you get a choice between going to regular heaven or pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It might be a trick, but if it's not, mmmmmmmm, boy.”
